Chilling moment train crashes into car
A driver narrowly escaped from his vehicle moments before it was hit by a passenger train.
The train, which had more than 200 people on board at the time, pushed the car hundreds of metres along the tracks on the NSW Central Coast at 6pm on Friday night.
Moment before the train hit the car the 43-year old driver was able to escape from his car.
When officers from the Brisbane Water Police District arrived on the scene they found a black Honda had been hit by the train on the railway crossing at Rawson Road, and that it had pushed 200 hundred metres along the tracks.
There were 226 people on board the train when it collided with the car.
Passengers were detrained to a safe area and were taken to Gosford by two emergency buses.
Paramedics from the NSW Ambulance service attended the scene and treated three people with minor injuries, one woman in her 70s was transported to Gosford Hospital with chest pains.
Neither the driver of the car or passenger train were injured in the collision, and both tested negative at the scene.
A Transport for NSW spokesperson said the train driver was shaken as a result of the incident.
“Both the driver and guard are being provided with support for their wellbeing,” the spokesperson said.
Trains are now running again between Hawkesbury River and Gosford on the Central Coast and Newcastle Line after the incident last night.
The spokesperson said limited buses had been running between Hornsby and Gosford and that trains continued to run between Hornsby and Hawkesbury River on the T1 North Shore Line.
“Passengers should continue to listen to announcements and check information displays for service updates,” they said.
