Three-year-old girl dies after being found floating in NSW river following fall from boat

A three-year-old girl has died after she was found floating in the Hawkesbury River following a fall from a boat on Tuesday afternoon.

Police responded to reports of a child missing from a vessel on the river near Brooklyn about 12.45pm.

After finding the girl in the water, marine police commenced CPR.

She was transported to land and treatment continued by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

The girl was then airlifted to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigations have commenced into how the incident occurred.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
