CBB star and Kate's uncle Gary Goldsmith hits out at Prince Harry over slurs on his niece and the Royal Family

The Princess of Wales’ uncle Gary Goldsmith has hit out at Prince Harry and Meghan as he defended his “beautiful niece”.

Goldsmith - who is currently appearing in ITV reality series Celebrity Big Brother - spoke in glowing terms of Catherine, Princess of Wales, as she was photographed for the first time in months on Monday, following major surgery.

The 42-year-old future queen was last year sensationally named alongside her father-in-law, King Charles, as the senior royals who reportedly made remarks about Prince Harry’s son, Archie’s skin colour before he was born.

But 58-year-old businessman Goldsmith, who is brother of Kate’s mother Carole Middleton, described the allegation as “absolute bull***t”.

“Kate is 100 per cent not racist, neither is Carole,” he told The Sun. “My family is not racist and for Kate to be portrayed as that is just so far removed from the truth, it’s ridiculous.”

“She’s beautiful on the outside, but more beautiful on the inside and really is a doting mum,” he added. “So the way the monarchy is moving, it’s family-centric.

“That’s why I got so upset with Harry and Meghan because you don’t put a stick into that spoke and reinvent history.

“I’ve got pretty miffed when they had a pop at my beautiful niece who couldn’t say anything for herself...Throwing your family under the bus just seemed inappropriate”.

Prince Harry’s wife Meghan alleged comments had been made about the skin colour of her and Harry’s son, Archie, during their bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview in March 2021.

The Duchess of Sussex said in the interview: “In those months when I was pregnant [there were] concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he was born.”

Harry added: “That conversation, I am never going to share. At the time it was awkward, I was a bit shocked.”

The prince later clarified his comments in a chat with ITV’s Tom Bradby, saying he and Meghan had not accused members of the royal family of “racism”.

Kate and Charles were last year named as the two royals who allegedly made the comments, in a Dutch edition of the book Endgame, by author Omid Scobie.

Goldsmith’s decision to join celebrity contestants in the CBB house comes as speculation swirls over the Princess of Wales.

Kate was admitted to the London Clinic – the private hospital where the King simultaneously underwent treatment for an enlarged prostate – for planned abdominal surgery on January 16.

She spent 13 days there before being discharged and heading home, where she is said to be recovering well.

But she has withdrawn from all public engagements until Easter, and until this week had not been pictured in public since a Christmas Day walk in Sandringham, Norfolk.

The princess was reportedly on Monday photographed in the passenger seat of a car near Windsor Castle. The photo is understood to have been taken by unauthorised paparazzo.

Celebrity news site TMZ, which published the image, said she was wearing dark sunglasses in the black Audi which was being driven by her mother, Carole Middleton.

Goldsmith commented on the condition of his niece, telling The Sun: “I’ve spoken to Carole just to send my love and we talked about Kate given what’s going on.

“There’s lots going on in the family at the moment. So she’s spinning a lot of plates right now, it’s quite stressful. So the last thing I’m going to do is bring any stress to them.”

The Palace has not detailed the nature of Kate’s surgery, but confirmed she did not have cancer.
