Cattle Swim Through 'Unprecedented' Floodwaters in Regional Queensland

Cattle were seen swimming through Queensland’s Gulf Country after severe flooding devastated the region on Saturday, March 11.

Video recorded by aviation operator Nautilus Aviation, near the community of Burketown, shows a herd of cattle struggling through the waters.

Speaking to local media Burke Shire council member Dan McKinlay said the agricultural community was expecting “devastating stock losses”.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) said the flooding event was “unprecedented.”

“Persistently high flood levels mean the area is still unsafe, and movement around the community should be limited to essential matters only,” QFES said. Credit: Nautilus Aviation via Storyful
