'Can't do the limit, stay off the freeway': Driver fined for going too slowly

A driver has been slapped with a fine for driving too slowly on a freeway.

The Toyota Landcruiser was travelling 28km/h under the 100km/h speed limit on the Mitchell Freeway near Greenwood in Perth when police pulled the car over on Monday night.

The driver copped a $50 fine for travelling too slow, with police posting a picture of the ticket on Twitter.

“Driving 28km/h under the speed limit on the freeway causes frustration which results in bad decisions which results in accidents,” WA Police Traffic wrote alongside the picture.

Many agreed with police, saying slow drivers on freeways were dangerous.

“Slow drivers cause people to take risks, which results in accidents,” one commented.

“Please, please enforce this as much as possible. Drivers in Perth don’t seem to understand that this is dangerous,” another said.

Others begged police to book these types of offenders more often.

“I never thought I would see the day this would be enforced. People travelled that slow whilst other road users are travelling almost 30km/h faster is a recipe for disaster. It can be lethal,” one commented.

“Slow drivers need to find alternative roads to travel, not highways.”

Driving too slowly is one of the 15 obscure road rules that attract hefty fines.
