Sister of woman murdered in Canada hits out at suspected killer's dad
The sister of a woman found murdered alongside her Australian boyfriend in Canada has a blunt message for the family of her accused killer.
Australian man Lucas Fowler was found dead on the Alaska Highway in the northern part of British Columbia on July 15 about 7am (local time), according to Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
His girlfriend, American woman Chynna Deese, was found dead with him alongside a blue minivan.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced on Wednesday last week they located two bodies in thick bush near Gillam, Manitoba, believed to be 19-year-old fugitives Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmegelsky who were accused of murdering Mr Fowler and Ms Deese.
Schmegelsky’s father Alan told The Canadian Press in July he’s written a book detailing his issues with mental health, harassment convictions involving his ex-wife and how the events of his life may have affected his son.
Chynna Deese’s sister Kennedy has accused Schmegelsky’s father Alan of playing the victim.
“We are not cut from the same cloth, as you play the victim and don’t acknowledge your hand in your child’s upbringing and ultimate demise,” she wrote.
“Your sorrow is for yourself.
“You cannot relate to us, as we had no doings in the cause of your pain, when you’ve played a part in the cause of our pain.”

Kennedy added the “proper public response” would have been a “genuine apology”.
“But we still forgive you and have mercy,” Ms Deese wrote.
Mr Schmegelsky told Nine’s 60 Minutes he won’t call his son a murderer until evidence backs the claim.
He told 60 Minutes he wanted to offer his sympathies to the families of the victims.
“I’m so sorry for what’s happened... I have just lost my son, I know exactly how you feel,” he said.
He also offered kudos to his son and co-accused for being able to evade police capture.
