'No excuse for that!' Bus smashes into car after running red light

The driver of a public bus has been slammed online after running a red light and causing a turning car to smash into its side.

The horrific footage of the incident was captured by a motorist waiting at a red light behind several other cars.

Despite the light changing to red, a long red city bus charged through the intersection, quickly coming into the path of a small car making a right turn at the intersection.

The incident happened on Tuesday just after 9am, with a loud bang heard as the two vehicles collided in footage uploaded to the Dash Cam Owners Australia Facebook page.

While the location of the crash was not specified, a social media user suggested it could have been in Peakhurst, a suburb in Sydney’s south.

“No excuse for anyone to run a red light like this. And I’m a bus driver myself,” someone wrote in the comments of the video.

“That was brutal! I hope the occupants were OK,” another person said.

Others thought perhaps the blame lay partially on the the small vehicle for turning into the bus.

“Between the red light and the turning car it still makes you wonder.... He may have actually started to move even before his own green light,” someone said.

“Yeah but, why turn in front of moving vehicles?” another asked.
