Burundi-born man faces court for alleged visa breach

A Burundi-born man accused of repeatedly breaching his visa-mandated curfew conditions has faced court.

Kimbengere Gosoge, 42, appeared in Midland Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with six offences under the Commonwealth Migration Act.

These include failing to remain at his home as ordered on five occasions and not keeping his monitoring device in working order.

Australian Federal Police officers arrested Gosoge in Perth on Wednesday.

It will be alleged he breached the conditions of his visa between Friday and Wednesday.

He was remanded in custody to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on May 16.

The offences carry a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment and/or a $93,900 fine.
