Bunk bed recall over fears sleeper could become trapped

A bunk bed sold at one of Australia’s biggest furniture retailers has been recalled because it poses the risk of trapping children.

Harvey Norman in Mascot, NSW, has had to recall the Domino Bunk Bed, a wooden bunk bed for children supplied by Dixie Cummings Enterprise Pty Ltd.

The bunk bed was supplied to Harvey Norman without the required infill on the top bunk’s side panel, News Corp reported.

The Australasian Furnishing Association has published a recall notice on its website stating the product “does not comply with the mandatory standard Trade Practices Act 1974”.

Customers who have purchased the item from Harvey Norman Mascot will be contacted by phone or email to organise a new timber panel insert, the AFA states.

The new part will be supplied and installed free of charge.
