'Come clean': Brian Laundrie’s sister makes shock claim in TV interview

The sister of Gabby Petito's missing fiancé has called for her brother Brian Laundrie to hand himself in if he's still alive.

Cassie Laundrie also called on her parents to "come clean" if they have any involvement in his disappearance.

Mr Laundrie, 23, has not been seen after vanishing days before Ms Petito's body was found in a remote area of Wyoming on September 19.

The cause of her death has been ruled a homicide.

“I would tell my brother to just come forward and get us out of this horrible mess,” Ms Laundrie told ABC News's Good Morning America.

“I hope my brother’s alive, because I want answers just as much as everybody else.”

The couple had been travelling across the US in a Ford Transit van and were documenting their trip on YouTube.

Mr Laundrie's parents told police they last saw their son on September 14 when he reportedly told them he was going for a hike in a nature reserve.

His parents have denied helping their son evade police however they and Ms Laundrie refused to speak with police before he disappeared.

Ms Laundrie said she wished her brother had come to her first on his return from the trip, believing if he had, events would have unfolded differently.

"I don't think we'd be here," she said, adding Ms Petito's family "deserve answers".

There is an active warrant for his arrest for allegedly fraudulently using a bank debit card after Ms Petito, 22, vanished on August 27.

Ms Petito's death and subsequent search for Mr Laundrie has made international headlines with several unverified sightings of Mr Laundrie.

The pair were reportedly involved in several physical altercations before Ms Petito's disappearance, including one where police bodycam captured the aftermath and resulted in the pair spending the night apart under instruction from officers.

Last month, a close friend of Ms Petito said Mr Laundrie was well-equipped to survive off the land for long periods of time and had previously spent months living on the Appalachian Trail.

Over the weekend, searchers discovered new evidence suggesting Ms Petito's partner may be using a kayak to avoid being found.
