Boy uses mum's credit card to buy $10,000 Coles collectable

A mum was shocked to discover her son used her credit card to buy a $10,000 Coles Stikeez collectable off eBay.

Sydney mum Donna Jacob told Seven News her seven-year-old used her computer, which had her eBay password saved, to purchase the rare gold Billy Bananas collectable on Saturday.

The golden banana is the rarest of all the figurines with one sold on eBay earlier this year for $12,900. Another currently listed on the website has a $14,990 price tag.

It seems Ms Jacob’s son might have found a bargain – but she’s less than impressed.

“I nearly fell off my chair,” she told Seven News.

Ms Jacob had earlier told her boy he couldn’t have the figurine before he made the purchase.

She appealed to eBay and Paypal to get a refund but claims she was ignored by both of them along with the seller.

However, eBay has since agreed to give the mum a refund after being contacted by Seven News.

In a statement to Seven News, eBay said it understands “there are unique circumstances in this case”.
