Boy fighting for life after scooter crash

A 12-year-old boy is fighting for his life after a horror crash with a car while out riding his scooter.

The boy was struck by a Mazda ute on David Low Way, a busy road in Bli Bli on the Sunshine Coast, about 5:10pm on Sunday.

The boy was then taken by helicopter to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a critical condition, a Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokesman confirmed.

The driver of the ute, a 27-year-old Bli Bli man is helping police.

He was not hurt in the crash.

Bli Bli is a small town of about 10,000 people, 10 minutes inland from Sunshine Coast airport.

The incident is being investigated by the Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who might have dashcam/CCTV footage of the incident to come forward.
