Boy, 6, attacked while trying to protect friend from bullies

A six-year-old suffered a broken arm and could lose his eye after he was attacked by a group of children while trying to stop the boys bullying his friend.

About seven boys beat Carter English on Wednesday at the apartment complex where he lives in Olympia, Washington, in the US.

They hit him with rocks and sticks and rubbed sawdust in his eyes, leaving the boy with a broken arm, fractured elbow in three places, lacerated eye, and several cuts and bruises across his head and face.

The damage to his eyelid and eyeball was so severe the boy faces the possibility of loosing his left eye, his family said.

“They were just bullying him, like beating him up,” Carter told KOMO News.

“I just told them to stop … and then they did it to me.”

He said the boys were around his age and police said they have identified a five-year-old who they believe started the attack.

Investigators are reportedly planning to get social services involved.

“I really don’t know what I’m hoping for other than for people to know that this is not acceptable,” the boy’s mother Dana English said.

“Bullying is not okay. There’s no reason to bully someone ever.”

Friends of the family have set up a GoFundMe account to help the family with medical expenses, and have already raised more than $11,500 to help the family with medical bills and transport.
