Update on bomb threats rocking one state
Police are probing the possibility that a series of bomb threats that put one state on high alert in recent weeks have come from overseas.
Officers say they are closing in on the source of bomb threats in Adelaide.
“The source of the threats has been traced to an overseas origin,” South Australian police stated on Monday in their latest update on the investigation.
“We wish to reassure the community that there has been no risk to public safety.
“South Australia Police continue to work with our federal and overseas counterparts to investigate these incidents.”
Multiple bomb threats have rocked the city in the past month, with schools, hospitals and government infrastructure all targeted.
On August 29, defence personnel evacuated from Keswick Army Barracks in the city’s western suburbs following reports of a threat.
On August 22, East Adelaide School went into lockdown following a bomb threat via email.
It is understood some 15 schools received a similar threat across the state.
Flinders Medical Centre also received a bomb threat that day.
