Body found in creek during search for missing Brisbane woman
A body has been found in a creek near parkland during a police search for a missing woman south of Brisbane on Monday.
Simone Rothe, 44, was last seen on Sunday, July 14 at a Westmoreland Boulevard address at Springwood and has not made contact with family or friends.
Queensland Police have said the body is “likely” to be that of Ms Rothe, the ABC reports.
Detective Inspector Tod Reid said police could not at this stage say whether the death was being treated as suspicious.
"Indications at this point is it's likely to be the missing person, however, we won't know that until such time a post-mortem has been conducted," Detective Inspector Tod Reid said.
At this stage, police could not say whether the death was being treated as suspicious.
"At this point we always keep an open mind on these sorts of investigations until proven otherwise — so yes, we've engaged in and been greatly assisted by the homicide squad — but until that time a post-mortem is carried out, I can't comment on that further," Detective Inspector Reid said.
Grave concerns were held for Ms Rothe who suffers from a medical condition.
According to Detective Inspector Reid the missing woman "had a discernible limp and walked most of the time using a crutch".
"That would be quite noticeable if you happen to have seen her in the area." he said.
Ms Rothe has not been in contact with friends or family since she went missing on July 14, which police say is out of character for her.
The 44-year-old woman is 175 centimetres tall, has a slim build, blue eyes, a tanned complexion and long brown hair.
Police are asking for anyone with further information to contact them.
