Body found in southern Tas

A man's body has been retrieved from Tasmania's Derwent River, thought to be that of a missing 59-year-old.

Police believe the body recovered off Blessington Street, South Arm on Thursday afternoon is missing Kingston man Douglas Adamson.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A report is being prepared for the coroner and police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen Mr Adamson enter the water.

They had earlier sought public assistance to find him, saying that he had an intellectual disability and Asperger Syndrome, and had not been seen since 9am on Wednesday at his home.
