Body found in search for missing mother in Victoria

There has been a heartbreaking end to a five day search for a missing Monbulk woman.

Mother of five Fiona Hawker walked out of her home on Thursday morning after an argument,

This afternoon police found her body in bushland not far from her house.

Chris Hawker this morning made a heartbreaking plea after a fourth agonising night without his wife.

He reported Fiona missing nine hours after she walked out of their home on Thursday morning.

“I though she’d come back,” he said.

“Thought she’d blow off a bit of steam and come back but she never came back.”

He and Fiona had been together for 25 years.

They have five children aged from 20 to three who had been clinging to hope that their mother had been driven somewhere by a friend.

“We’ve contacted absolutely everyone she could have have known looking for any answers but there’s been no luck as of yet,” Rayce Hawker said.

The search area was double to a one kilometre radius of the house, with nearly 50 State Emergency Service volunteers joining police in scouring steep terrain and thick bush.

The dog squad and air wing were also involved.

“I just answer the phones and wait and hope, and I’ve got to thank the community, they’ve been so good,” Chris Hawker said.

Just after 3.30pm came the news Chris and his family feared. Police located Fiona’s body in a creek.

They say the death is not suspicious. A report will now be prepared for the coroner.
