A murder investigation has been launched after a man’s body was discovered bound inside his home.

The 45-year-old man was found inside his home in Lockridge in Perth’s northeast on Tuesday afternoon by someone known to him.

The man is believed to have been found bound, blindfolded and wearing a collar, according to The West Australian.

Police believe it is an isolated incident.

“This does appear to be a random incident, so we don’t believe there’s any ongoing risk to the community,” WA Police Inspector Geoff DeSanges said.

Inspector DeSanges would not comment on the manner in which the man was found.

“We’ve got an open book, we’re keeping an open mind, and every avenue of investigation is open,” he said.

A forensic team searched through the Diana Crescent home for clues into the mysterious death.

Officers took their time examining a laptop for fingerprints under a tent set up outside the home, which is located across the road from a daycare centre.

Gang crime links have been ruled out and police do not believe the victim was known to them.

“We have not found that a firearm of any sort was involved in this,” Inspector DeSanges said.

“I don’t want to go into the investigation, it’s very fresh, and I certainly don’t want to compromise what the officers are doing at the moment.”

Police are now calling for anyone with CCTV footage or information to come forward.

“We need the assistance of the community on this one,” Inspector DeSanges said.
