Big call for alleged ex-fugitive’s girlfriend
The partner of an alleged Alameddine crime family associate, who is accused of hindering police when he went on the run, will be required to enter a plea when she faces court next month.
Jade Heffer, 28, was not present in Burwood Local Court on Wednesday just a week after being granted bail by the Supreme Court.
She spent seven weeks behind bars on remand after she was arrested when her partner Ahmad Alameddine fled from authorities during a raid of a Greenacre home in south west Sydney earlier this year.
Mr Alameddine, an alleged Alameddine crime family associate, allegedly jumped over the back fence of the Narellan Crescent property to avoid officers.
Ms Heffer and Mr Alameddine’s sister Susan, 35, were arrested at a nearby service station.
During a Supreme Court bail hearing earlier this month, Justice Natalie Adams said the women allegedly gave “different and false versions to police” about Mr Alameddine’s whereabouts and continued to assist him over ensuing days.
Ms Heffer is facing charges of hindering the apprehension of a person who has committed a serious offence and hindering a police officer in the execution of their duty.
She is also facing charges of acquiring a pistol while subject to a firearm prohibition order and acquiring a firearm without a licence.
The court previously heard that during a police interview the 28-year-old admitted that she had “handled” a pistol.
The court previously heard that the admissibility of any alleged admission about handling a pistol could be challenged in court.
She was represented in court on Wednesday by solicitor Mostafa Daoudie.
The court was told she will be required to enter a plea when she appears before Bankstown Court next month.
Ms Heffer is also the widow of slain bikie Yusuf Nazlioglu.
The court previously heard she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder due to the violent death of her late husband.
She was married to the Lone Wolf bikie when he was gunned down in a Rhodes parking lot last year.
The Supreme Court last week granted Ms Heffer bail on strict conditions, including that she lives with her parents in a small country town near the NSW/Victoria border.
Susan Alameddine has pleaded not guilty to hindering the apprehension of a person who committed a serious offence.
Mr Alameddine was arrested on October 5, after a month-long manhunt.
He was charged with five offences including acquiring a pistol while subject to firearms prohibition order, carrying a firearm manner likely to injure a person/property, acquiring ammunition subject to a prohibition order, hindering or resisting a police officer in the execution of duty and entering included land not prescribed without lawful excuse.
