With homeowners Adam and Lisa wanting a "wow statement" in every room, WA's Carole and Russell took a huge risk in their bathroom, selecting graphic printed tiles to create a show-stopping feature on the main wall.

While the judges weren't thrilled with the choice of Candela polished porcelain tiles, Lisa loved them, particularly the way they met the House Rules that called for a modern aesthetic, earthy tones and pops of pattern.

Carole and Russell said the most difficult part of renovating the "horrible" existing bathroom - complete with daggy apricot-coloured tiles - was planning the layout.

"The biggest challenge was trying to plan out where everything went in the bathroom so it flowed," they said.

The judges and homeowners alike loved the generous freestanding bath with floor-mounted spout, and the Rifco Acqua wall-hung vanity and Ideal Standard Tonic above-counter basin, both from Reece.

While Carole's choice to include a separate toilet "cubicle" was not well received, the pair said that overall they were happy with their bathroom design.

"We both loved the finished product," they said. "Television did not do it justice.

"It would have been a 10 if there was no glass around the toilet, that's what I tell Carole anyway," Russell said.
