A basketball coach has been charged with allegedly sexually abusing a teenager while she was the woman’s student in the ACT.

Officers from ACT Police’s Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team arrested the 39-year-old woman over the alleged sexual abuse of the girl, then 15.

Police allege that the woman abused the girl in 2009 – while she was her coach.

The woman was arrested when police raided her home on Thursday.

She has been charged with four counts of sexual intercourse with a young person under 16 years, choking another person and possessing an offensive weapon with intent.

The woman faced ACT Magistrates Court on Friday.
