She hasn’t exactly had the easiest time on Married at First Sight, with her groom, Dan Webb, having an affair with another bride, Jessika Power.

But now 29-year-old Tamara Joy has opened up about the hardest time in her life, when her mum, Kerry, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

Tamara told 9Honey she thinks about her mum every day, after she sadly passed away from the disease in June 2015.

Kerry was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease – a condition which affects the nerve cells, causing weakness in the muscles and leading to loss in speech, no mobility and trouble breathing and swallowing – in 2012, with Tamara saying she had no idea what the disease was.

After researching it online, she said she became distraught after realising ‘it’s only a matter of time’.

Within two years of being diagnosed, her mum was in a wheelchair and then she lost her voice.

“She basically became a vegetable,” Tamara said.

Tamara’s mum sadly passed away on June 25, 2015.

According to mnd Australia, ‘if a person has an MND-related genetic mutation each of their children has a 50/50 chance of inheriting the MND-related genetic mutation’.

However, Tamara said she’s no interest in getting the test done.

Tamara spoke about her mum’s death when she first appeared on the Channel Nine show, saying she ‘watched her deteriorate day by day’.

“Just watching somebody go through something like that… it just breaks you as a human,” she said.

Tamara has previously revealed that she can’t wait to have children and that was one of the main reasons why she decided to go on a show like Married At First Sight.

“I want a family really bad,” Tamara told WHO.

“My mum was the best mother. My goal in life is to be even close to her to how she was as a mother.

“She’s my idol and if I could be the sort of mum she was, it would make my dreams come true.”
