Bail denied for 83-year-old accused killer
An 83-year-old man accused of manslaughter over the death of a Perth woman more than 20 years ago has been denied bail for the second time.
Ronald Leslie Pennington was extradited from Tasmania to stand trial for the death of 41-year-old Cariad Anderson Slater, who disappeared in July 1992.
Her skeletal remains were found in 2011 in a backyard where Pennington once lived.
Pennington failed in a bail application earlier this year, and another bid was refused by West Australian Chief Justice Wayne Martin on Wednesday.
Pennington is due to stand trial in October.
