Baby born the size of an average five-month-old sets new record
A baby has been born in the United States weighing the size of an average 4 or 5 month old.
Colin Austin Keisler arrived at the Lexington Medical Centre in South Carolina weighing in at 14.4 pounds, or 6.5kgs - twice the weight of a typical newborn baby.
Colin was born by caesarian section to mother Cindy Richmond and her husband Arthur.
Colin and his mother are reportedly healthy and settling in well at home.
Richmond said knew that her baby was going to be big, but Colin weighed in a few pounds heavier than even Cindy could guess.
Maternity nurse Donna Hinton told Cola Daily that her first reaction when she saw Colin was: "oh my goodness".
There are 3500 babies born at Lexington Medical Centre per year, and Colin is the biggest baby to be delivered at the hospital.
Colin has a healthy appetite already, his parents said.
