Aussies rage at 'selfish' man 'selling high-demand products at huge prices'

A Melbourne man has been widely condemned as “selfish” for hoarding toilet paper, nappies and hand sanitiser and trying to sell them for profit on Facebook.

The man posted on Facebook on Tuesday offering toiletries.

“Inbox me for toilet paper, hand sanitiser, nappies, baby formula and antiseptic wipes. Lots of stock. Happy to express post, no pickups,” he wrote.

The man said he’s offering toilet paper for $5 a roll or $100 for a 24 pack.

He added he’s selling hand sanitiser for $20 per 500ml and tins of baby formula for $100.

But he might be hard-pressed to make a sale if the comments are anything to go by.

One woman called him a “parasite” while another said he was “a piece of garbage”.

A third woman suggested people ignore the man and simply don’t buy his wares.

“He’ll be paying to get rid of it in due course! Once a scumbag, always a scumbag,” she wrote.

However some claimed the man was trolling amid the panic buying hysteria.

“This is clearly a fake account, just trolling!” one said.

“Troll extraordinaire,” another claimed.

“This is a puppet profile. It's not real. BAD TROLLS ARE BAD!” a third said.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison called on Australians on Wednesday morning to stop hoarding supermarket items in a blunt rebuke of those seen stripping supermarket shelves in recent weeks.

In an address announcing new public measures, the PM slammed those engaged in bulk purchasing of food and toilet paper as “un-Australian”.

“It is not sensible, it is not helpful and it has been one of the most disappointing things I have seen in Australian behaviour in response to this crisis,” he said.

“That is not who we are as a people.”

Woolworths on Wednesday announced a two-item limit on all products unless stated otherwise.
