Aussie tourist, 47, falls to his death from Bali hotel balcony

An Australian man has fallen to his death from a fourth-floor balcony at a Bali hotel.

The 47-year-old died around 8pm on Wednesday night at The Haven Hotel in Seminyak, CNN Indonesia reported.

Just before the tragedy, local police said another guest had been sitting on the pool deck when she heard someone shouting and banging on the glass windows on the fourth floor.

The woman alerted a security guard and the pair rushed upstairs to a room where the noise was coming from and knocked on the door several times.

No one answered, and just moments later the pair heard the sound of someone falling onto the pool deck.

"Then, the witness ran downstairs to the deck pool, it was true that the guest of room 403 or the victim was lying unconscious, and when he looked at the fourth floor, the witness did not see anyone," Denpasar Police Public Relations Officer, Iptu Ketut Sukadi, told CNN Indonesia.

The 47-year-old man was examined by a nurse and declared dead at the scene.

Local police said the Australian guest was seen on CCTV “staggering” to his room alone.

An investigation is underway.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has confirmed to 7 News it is “providing assistance to the family of an Australian who died in tragic circumstances in Bali”.

“Out of respect to the family and owing to our privacy obligations, we are unable to comment further,” the spokesperson said.

Aussie teen falls to his death in Thailand

The 47-year-old’s death comes just weeks after Joshua James Connell, 19, was found dead after falling six floors from the roof of a hotel in Phuket.

The backpacker was seen on CCTV walking on a thin wall and then railing near the swimming pool at the Paripas Patong Resort on June 30 before slipping and falling 15 metres onto a cafe roof below.

Joshua, who was from Canberra and had been taking a gap year, was rushed to hospital but later pronounced dead.

A GoFundMe was created to help bring his body back home.
