Aussie man, 42, mauled to death by two dogs in horror attack
A 42-year-old Energex contractor has been mauled to death by two dogs while trying to read an electricity meter at a home south of Brisbane.
Queensland police said they were called to the home on Ison Road in Logan shortly before 11am on Saturday, where they located the victim, who has been identified as Kane Minion, lying unconscious in the fenced front yard with serious injuries.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, he died at the scene. It’s not known if the 42-year-old, who was an avid dog lover, was attacked while arriving at or leaving the property, which features a long driveway, the Courier Mail reports.
While police found three dogs at the scene, only two of them — a bandog-bull mastiff cross and a rhodesian ridgeback cross — were seized by council officers, according to the publication. They will remain at the pound until the investigation is concluded
An older dog was left at the property, which photos show has a sign reading “warning — guard dogs on duty” attached to the fence. The owners of the home were not there at the time.
'Terrible and heartbreaking situation'
Police said Work Safe Australia had been notified as Mr Minion was conducting work in the area at the time of the attack.
The 42-year-old had been employed with Downer’s Skilltech metering business, which was contracted by Energex, for the last several years, the Courier Mail reports.

“Downer is extremely saddened by this tragic loss. Kane was a popular member of the team. Downer extends our deepest sympathies to Kane’s family, and we will support them through this incredibly difficult time,” a spokesperson for the company told the publication.
Energex Area Manager Kevin Lavender described Mr Minion’s death as a “terrible and heartbreaking situation”. A neighbour at the scene agreed. “Oh terrible...like right before Christmas. Bloke just doing his job and now he's dead,” Kevin Cunnington told 9News.
A report will be prepared for the coroner as Queensland Police and Workplace Health and Safety Queensland conduct their investigations.
