A 58-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman have died in an apartment fire in Montreal's Pointe-aux-Trembles district early Friday morning. A third person was seriously injured.

A Montreal police spokesperson said emergency services responded to a 911 call at around 4:45 a.m.

Firefighters were also called to the fire in an apartment building on St-Jean-Baptiste Boulevard, near de la Gauchetière Street.

On arrival, firefighters found three injured people who needed to be transported to the hospital. All three were in critical condition, the police spokesperson said.
