Anne-Marie Duff's returning Channel 4 crime drama gets tense first trailer
Channel 4 has released the tense first trailer for Suspect season two.
The returning crime drama will see Shameless and Sex Education star Anne-Marie Duff reprise her role as Dr Susannah Newman, with the second season picking up where the first left off as Susannah sets out to uncover the truth about her daughter’s tragic death.
Season two also sees Mamma Mia actor Dominic Cooper join the cast as a new patient of Susannah named Jon, who admits under hypnosis that he is a murderer and intends on killing another young woman.

The official synopsis continues: "When he escapes before the police arrive and as Detective Superintendent Richard Grove is refusing to take action, Susannah is forced to embark on her own deadly mission to save Sapphire's life, the way she couldn't do with her own daughter."
The trailer opens with Susannah informing Alistair Underwood (Eddie Marsan): “A patient made a confession under hypnosis. He’s going to kill a young woman tonight.”
However, when she takes her concerns to Richard, Susannah is told that there is “no evidence” and there are no “bodies” to warrant an investigation.

With that, Susannah sets out to on a mission stop Jon herself, though it appears she puts herself in danger as the trailer ends with the serial killer cornering and threatening her with the twisted statement: "They always say the same thing. They call for their mothers."
Other cast members for season two, which is directed by Carolina Giammetta and written by Joy Wilkinson, include Top Boy's Nicholas Pinnock, Line of Duty star Gina McKee, Showtrial's Céline Buckens, and Boiling Point’s Vinette Robinson.
Suspect season 2 will air this summer on Channel 4. Season 1 is available to watch now on Channel 4 streaming.
