Update in alleged gangland murders

Police have charged a teenager over his alleged role in the shooting of two members of one of Sydney’s major crime families.

Toufik Hamze, 64 and his 18-year-old son Salim were killed in a hail of bullets while sitting in a ute outside their Guildford home on October 20, 2021.

The teen, now 18, was arrested and charged with two counts of murder at Gosford police station on Thursday morning.

He was also charged with one count of participating in a criminal group and contributing to criminal activity.

Police will allege in court he was involved in the planning and co-ordination of the murder.

The 18-year-old is the third person charged over the alleged murder plot.

Two men – aged 20 and 25 – remain before the courts over their alleged roles in the shooting.

The 18-year-old will remain behind bars remanded in custody and will appear in children’s court on Friday.
