Aldi worker stuns shoppers with romantic checkout act
One Aldi employee will soon be walking down a different type of Aisle.
A supermarket worker will be walking down a different type of ‘aisle’ soon after she was proposed to during a busy shift working at the checkouts.
Aldi worker Lynne Fuller had been putting a customer’s weekly shop through the till when something unexpected happened. Her partner, Mike Durrant, approached her and got down on one knee.
To add to the spectacle, Mike made his way down the budget supermarket chain’s aisles with a bagpipe player dressed in a kilt blasting out Scotland the Brave.
The 54-year-old, who works as a store assistant at the same shop in Inverness, Scotland, approached Lynne as she scanned the customer’s shopping. He then dropped to one knee while colleagues and shoppers looked on in delight.
Stunned Lynne, 50, was wearing her blue Aldi uniform as she tearfully replied “Yes”. The couple are now planning a 2025 wedding.
Customers delight in the proposal
Shoppers have praised the unique proposal.
“This makes my heart melt,” said one customer.
“Great what you can get from Aldi,” joked another adding: “Congratulations to you both.”
“What’s a wonderful couple,” added a third. “We wish all the best and only happy days forever. Good luck, wonderful couple.”
