If you’ve ever shopped at Aldi, you’d know it can be tough to keep up with their speedy checkout assistants.

One member of Aldi Mums was outraged when an Aldi assistant “virtually threw” her groceries at her, but others have laughed it off.

“How do you keep up with the check out person!! I’m on edge every time,” one said.

“I just wanted to say thank you to the amazing ALDI check out person who served me today...I’m determined to beat my personal best score of getting all my groceries in my bag before you tell me total,” another joked.

But if you are struggling to keep up, Aldi has revealed the method behind its speedy checkout madness.

“Some time ago ALDI discovered that by placing more and bigger barcodes on their products they could speed up transaction times and improve the customer experience,” the company stated.

“That said, while the retailer is relentless in its pursuit of efficiency, ALDI is not in the business of rewarding speedy scanners. Rather, staff are encouraged to adjust their scan speed according to how quickly—or otherwise—a customer is packing.”

And some mums have put this advice to the test.

“Just shopped at Aldi Pimpama (QLD) and a nice young man served me,” one mum said. “Told him sorry I’m a bit slow, he said that’s okay and he went slow!!! I love ALDI!!”

“I was only talking to an ALDI checkout person yesterday...all customers need to do is ask them to slow down if they are going too fast,” another added.
