Alameddine arrested after intimate act
A prominent member of the Alameddine crime family was arrested after an intimate act with a woman at a Sydney apartment following a month-long manhunt.
Ahmad Alameddine was arrested on Tuesday while police performed a search operation on a South Coogee home on an unrelated matter.
Police have told NCA NewsWire Mr Alameddine was engaged in an intimate act with a woman when police began the raid just before 9am on Tuesday.
Mr Alameddine‘s partner, Jade Heffer, is currently behind bars on remand after she was charged with hindering and multiple weapons charges.
In a statement, NSW Police said officers attended a unit in relation to another investigation when Mr Alameddine leapt from a window.
NewsWire understands Mr Alameddine allegedly fled wearing nothing but a T-shirt, jumping over a nearby fence as police gave chase, but was lost by officers only moments after the pursuit began.
He was last seen by officers running through South Coogee without pants on while detectives searched the unit.
After executing the search warrant, officers pretended to leave while setting up surveillance in case Mr Alameddine were to return to the unit.
The 33-year-old man returned that afternoon before allegedly attempting to escape once again.
Following a second, short pursuit, Mr Alameddine was arrested near Gumara St about 2pm by virtue of four outstanding warrants.
Mr Alameddine was charged with the four outstanding warrants for serious firearm-related offences and a drug-related offence.
He was also charged with a further five offences including acquiring a pistol-subject to firearms prohibition order, carrying a firearm in a manner likely to injure person/property, acquiring ammunition subject to prohibition order, hinder/resisting police officer in the execution of duty, and entering included land not prescribed without lawful excuse.
He was taken to Maroubra Police Station, before he was taken to a hospital under police guard for treatment to a foot injury.
Mr Alameddine was due to face Waverley Court on Wednesday but remains in hospital due to the foot injury.
He has been denied bail to appear at Downing Centre Court later on September 28.
Mr Alameddine has been issued 21 court attendance notices for alleged offences across Sydney including Greenacre, Parramatta, Sydney’s CBD and now South Coogee.
He was charged with resisting police and unlawfully entering another property while allegedly trying to evade police on Tuesday.
On the nature of those charges, the Waverly Court Magistrate said they were the “least of his concern” due to the nature of the other charges against him, including several firearms charges, affray and drug possession.
The arrest marks the end of a month-long search by police for Mr Alameddine, who was allegedly on the run from police in Sydney’s west.
Mr Alameddine was reportedly believed to be hiding out in the suburbs of Sydney’s southwest following the raid by Raptor police.
He is wanted by officers over multiple alleged offences, including allegations he disposed of two guns into a neighbouring property in June.
Mr Alameddine‘s partner, Jade Heffer, was charged with hindering and multiple weapons charges and remains behind bars on remand.
Police allege Ms Heffer and Mr Alameddine’s sister, Susan, helped Mr Alameddine in his alleged escape from police in August.
