'Just enjoying the view': A killer's final photos before throwing ex-girlfriend off cliff
A man took a number of photos of his ex-girlfriend as they hiked together before he shot her and pushed her off a cliff in the US.
Loren Bunner will serve 52 years in prison after he shot 18-year-old Jolee Callan twice, once in the back of the head and once between the eyes, before he shoved her from a cliff in Alabama on August 30 in 2015, according to The Sun.
It had been Bunner’s idea to go on the hike.
Callan had messaged a friend the night before joking, “If something happens to me, you’ll know who I was with.”
Bunner posted four photos of his ex-girlfriend on the Pinhoti Trail to Instagram before he killed her.
The first was of Callan and her dog captioned, “On our way to go hiking @joleeisakitten.”
Another shows Callan peering over the misty cliff holding the dog.
“Oh, ya know. Just enjoying the view @joleeisakitten,” the caption reads.
Bunner called the police after his ex-partner’s death to turn himself in for murder.
Her body was found, still wearing her backpack, later that evening.
He told police had had shot her in the head as part of a suicide pact before pushing her off the cliff, but he was unable to go through with killing himself.
Police found a shotgun on Bunner and a large amount of blood along with a steering wheel where Callan was killed.

Authorities believed Bunner had lured Callan to the cliff to kill her because she didn’t want to be in a relationship with him.
Now 22, Bunner was charged with murder after initially pleading not guilty.
He admitted to the murder in July.
The court heard he had bragged to cellmates about the murder and that if he couldn’t have her no one else could.
He was sentenced to 52 years in prison and told to pay more than $11000 in restitution to the Alabama Crime Victims Commission.
After the sentencing, Callan’s father Michael said: “She was a sweet, sweet girl. I think she’s smiling today.”
