Flight attendant's tragic post just weeks before she died in plane crash

A flight attendant working on the doomed Boeing 737 that crashed shortly after takeoff and killed everyone on board shared a heartbreaking tribute about her job just weeks before her death.

Valeriia Ovcharuk, 28, died alongside eight fellow crew members and 167 passengers when the Ukrainian International Airlines went down moments after taking off from Imam Khomeini International Airport in Iran’s capital of Tehran early Wednesday morning (local time).

The plane was carrying 167 passengers and nine crew members from several countries, including 82 Iranians, at least 63 Canadians and 11 Ukrainians, according to officials.

Ms Ovcharuk, who reportedly was an amateur pilot and from Luhansk in eastern Ukraine, shared photo of herself seated in a luxury hotel pool to Instagram on December 22.

“Work, I love you,” she wrote in the caption, tagging The Grand Fourwings Convention Hotel in Bangkok and using the hashtags #ilovemyjob and #crewlife alongside a red heart emoji.

The crash just before dawn scattered flaming debris and passengers' belongings across a wide stretch of farmland.

It also came immediately after Iran launched a ballistic missile attack against Iraqi military bases housing US troops amid a confrontation with Washington over it killing an Iranian Revolutionary Guard general in a drone strike last week.

Many of the passengers were believed to be international students attending universities in Canada; they were making their way back to Toronto by way of Kyiv after visiting with family during the winter break.

The crash ranked among the worst losses of life for Canadians in an aviation disaster. The flag over Parliament in Ottawa was lowered to half-staff, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau vowed to get to the bottom of the disaster.
