Woman's warning to dog owners after her horse is attacked
WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT. A NSW woman has shared a warning to dog owners after her horse was attacked and left "bleeding and shaking" in his paddock.
Jessica O'Hearn had loaned her retired racehorse George to her aunt to ride at an agistment property in Kurri Kurri in the NSW Hunter region.
On Thursday morning Ms O'Hearn's uncle went to feed him, but found a commotion in the paddock and the neighbour's children chasing two dogs away from the horse.
George was left with horrific injuries, including deep wounds to his belly, leg and face.
"His wounds are drastic and included six hours of vet work and then we were at the point where George couldn’t have any more work due to shock," Ms O'Hearn told Yahoo7.
"He was shaking and it was unsafe to continue."

On Friday night, the vet managed to treat him again and stitch up the wounds.
"There will be more vet work to be continued on with more sutures around the face," Ms O'Hearn said.
The NSW woman said neighbours managed to catch the dogs, believed to be Staffy crosses, and lock them up until rangers could impound them.
"They both worked together and got [the dogs] down on the ground. I’m unsure how big the dogs were," she said.
Ms O'Hearn said the owners of the dogs have since come forward and offered to pay George's vet bills.
She has urged dog owners to be responsible and shared the story of George's attack to Facebook on Thursday.
"Why can’t people with dogs be responsible?" she wrote.
George is a well known member of the community and is often visited in his paddock by locals.
A GoFundMe page has been started to raise money for his recovery.
