Aussies create slip'n slide in Moore River to celebrate Australia Day

While a bunch of mates laboured their way slowly down the Brisbane River on a makeshift raft yesterday, another group decided they'd let gravity take control of their vessel during Australia Day celebrations.

Reuben DeMunck and seven daring friends took to Western Australia's Moore River in a small inflatable dinghy on Friday but not before hurtling down a 30 metre slip'n slide down the river bank.

He managed to capture the spectacular moment on his GoPro as the group were sent flying into the air before flopping into the water below as amazed bystanders gazed on.

Their high-velocity effort near Guilderton was one of many eye-catching celebrations across Australia as millions soaked up the sun in homage to the nation.

As the Australia Day long weekend continues, so do the scorching temperatures with South Australians expected to see a sizzling high of 44C over the weekend.
