Hilarious Air New Zealand Christmas advert sees Santa struggling with Kiwi accent

Air New Zealand is becoming renowned for its clever marketing ads and their latest Christmas campaign is no exception, taking the light-hearted mickey out of the Kiwi accent.

In the ad, called A Very Merry Mistake, Santa and his helper are taking calls from around the world from little children stating what they'd like for Christmas.

Santa gets off the phone from Ling Ling in Shanghai, who wants a new teddy bear.

Then a sign ticks over, stating that New Zealand children are next. Santa and his helper let out a bothered sigh and look at each other with trepidation.

Santa, it seems, just cannot make out the New Zealand accent.

Eddim (Adam) wants a "new beard" (bed), while Tum (Tom) wants a "puggy bank" and Bin (Ben) wants a "biscuit ball".

Meanwhile, it's an "ear plane" for Windy (Wendy) and so on and so on.

The kids' requests are sent down to Santa's toymaker, who turns out to be a fiery Scotsman with a thick accent of his own.

He comes storming up to Santa's office, shouting: "What the f....ather Christmas is going on here?", clasping a ear-shaped plane and a fake kid's beard.

"Oh oh, it's happened again," Santa moans - before three Air New Zealand flight attendants step in, offering to help translate the Kiwi accent.

Relieved, Santa hands over toy order duties, wishing a 'Mirry Christmus' to all.
