Lawyer sacked for 'deeply unacceptable' Las Vegas shooting post

CBS has fired one of the company's top lawyers after she said she is "not even sympathetic" to the victims of the horrific mass shooting in Las Vegas that has so far claimed 58 lives.

In a Facebook post that has since been deleted, now former vice-president and senior counsel Hayley Geftman-Gold labelled all country music fans as "Republican gun toters", while taking a swipe at supporters of right-wing politics.

“If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs [sic] will ever do the right thing,” she wrote online.

“I’m actually not even sympathetic bc [sic] country music fans often are Republican gun toters [sic]."

Following the controversy of her comments, the network moved quickly to confirm Ms Geftman-Gold was no longer with the company.

"This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS. Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families,” a CBS spokeswoman told Fox News.

There are 59 confirmed deaths and over 500 injured so far after Stephen Paddock of Mesquite, Nevada, opened fire on a crowd of 22,000 country music concert goers from the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas late Sunday night.
