PICTURED: Schoolgirl, 16, killed as family of seven's car rolls in holiday tragedy

A 16-year-old schoolgirl killed in a horrific car crash on the NSW Mid North Coast has been remembered as a "beautiful girl".

Newcastle teenager Jade Finn was killed after she was thrown from the family car on the Pacific Highway near Port Macquarie on Thursday.

Six of her family members were inside the car as it rolled several times after it swerved to avoid a van.

The female driver of the car was taken to John Hunter Hospital with head injuries. Other family members were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police have charged the van driver, a 20-year-old British backpacker, with negligent driving causing death and not giving way. He was due to appear in Port Macquarie Local Court on Friday.

The 20-year-old British tourist and his passenger, a 20-year-old man, weren't hurt in the smash.

The Toronto High School student has been called an "angel" as tributes continue to flow in.

“Always my best friend. Forever my angel,” one friend posted.

“You were one of my bestest friends, you were always there for me, through everything,” another friend said.

One person said she's "sorry".

"I’m sorry that this happened to you, you didn’t deserve to die like this at such a young age, fly high my beautiful best friend you’ll always be loved and remembered by your family and all your friends."

Another friend commented on her most recent photo saying: "Forever 16, I love you so much Jade. You're so so gorgeous."

The van's driver was taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital for mandatory tests.

It's one car crash of many that has marked a sad start to the long weekend and school holiday period.

There was another crash at Holroyd between two cars and a van that collided on the M4.

Since the start of the school holidays, 11 people have lost their lives on the road in NSW alone, Deputy Police Commissioner Catherine Burn said.
