AFL House in Docklands evacuated after threat is received

Melbourne's AFL House was evacuated for almost two hours after a security threat was received.

Just after 12pm on Thursday, police were seen clearing the 150 staff members from the building in Docklands.

An AFL spokesperson said they had a "hoax threat phone to the building this morning" and all staff were removed "as a precaution."

AFL CEO Gill McLachlan was seen speaking with other staffers as he waited on the street for police to complete the safety checks.

Part of Harbourside Esplanade was blocked off by police vehicles.

Staff were allowed back into the building just before 2pm.

The evacuation happened a day after the AFL unveiled its 'Yes' sign in support of same-sex marriage.
