Shocking video shows girl, 3, slapped as punishment for wrong answers during maths lesson

A disturbing video of a three-year-old girl being slapped across the face by her maths tutor after stumbling over numbers while counting has emerged.

The short Whatsapp clip surfaced in India on Thursday and shows a tutor, believed to be a family friend, teaching the little girl to count to five.

The child has tears streaming down her face and screams in fear as the teacher becomes hostile.

She asks her to "teach with a bit of love" and then complains of a headache, the BBC reported.

She continues to count to five through clenched teeth.

The little girl is reportedly the niece of Bollywood singer Toshi Sabri who defended the family.

"Her nature is such that after being scolded, the next minute she runs off to play. But, because of her nature if we don't push her, she won't study," he told the Hindustan Times newspaper.

But the video has drawn outrage among viewers, with even Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli weighing in.

“The fact that the pain and anger of the child is ignored and ones own ego to make the child learn is so massive that compassion has totally gone out of the window,” he wrote.
