Germany to look into Turkey's request to extradite coup suspect

BERLIN (Reuters) - Germany will look into Turkey's request to extradite a theology lecturer suspected of playing a role in last year's failed coup, a German foreign ministry spokesman said on Wednesday.

Speaking at a regular government news conference, Foreign Ministry spokesman Martin Schaefer said Germany had received the diplomatic note from Ankara on Saturday.
He added that under German law a judge would now look into the arguments laid out by the Turkish government before the German government could make a decision on the request.
Turkey sent a diplomatic note requesting the extradition of Adil Oksuz, who the government says was the "imam" of air force personnel who last year bombed parliament as part of the attempt to topple the government.
