WATCH: Police officers try, but fail, to catch emu on US highway
Hilarious footage has captured two police officers running down a US highway in an attempt to catch a flighty emu.
The video, which was posted on Facebook earlier this week, shows three uniformed officers scrambling madly to lasso the flightless bird as it runs through stopped traffic on a New Mexican interstate road.
At one stage they officers seem to be on verge of catching the creature, only for it to skitter away again.
The bird later ran across irrigation canals and residential areas, before it was eventually caught by animal experts, the Las Cruces Sun-News reported.
The video, in which Alyssa Ilano, who filmed it, can be heard laughing and saying "that's crazy" has been viewed more than 203,000 times.
