War Machine trial hears former MMA fighter 'took steroids' before alleged attack on ex-girlfriend

The jury at the War Machine trial has heard the former MMA fighter took steroids and choked a friend unconscious.

Herman Terrado, a friend of War Machine, testified during the Las Vegas trial that he never saw him take steroids, but was aware he used them, the New York Post reports.

It’s claimed Terrado and War Machine would discuss steroids when they trained at the gym together.

“I knew about it ... Gym guys know. We talk,” said Terrado, who is also known as Hit Man.

War Machine legally changed his name from Jon Koppenhaver.

The Post reports it appears his defence is laying out a claim that steroids played a role in his alleged attack on his ex-porn star girlfriend Christy Mack in 2014.

Another witness claimed War Machine used anabolic steroids while he lived with her for three months, according to Fox 5 News.

The former fighter is facing more than 30 charges for the attack on Mack and her friend, Corey Thomas, at her home.

Mack was left hospitalised after the alleged attack and claimed he left her with numerous injuries.

The 25-year-old alleged she had to undergo cosmetic surgery to fix her teeth and nose after the attack.

The former couple had been involved in a 15-month relationship.

During her testimony, Mack said War Machine had used steroids during their relationship.

“I would watch him inject himself,” she said.

“I knew he would take pills every once in awhile.”’

War Machine has pleaded not guilty, he could face life in jail if convicted.

It’s been said he will not testify during the trial.
