Quick-thinking rookie cop saves restaurant from burning truck
A quick-thinking rookie police officer responding to a car fire at a Jack-in-the-Box drive thru in the US managed to save the restaurant from catching fire.
Officer Chris Womack with the Glenn Heights Police Department in Texas responded to a call of a vehicle fire.
Upon arrival the officer noticed that a large Ford truck, located in the restaurant's drive-thru lane, was ablaze and dangerously close to the building.
“My adrenaline was going a little bit,” Womack, a first-year officer, told FOX4News.com.
“It was just a godsend that I was here at that particular time.”
In the vision the truck can be seen with large flames bursting out at the front of the vehicle.
Mr Womack managed to use his vehicle to push the truck away from the restaurant before the fire spread to the building.
The entire incident was caught on the officer's dashcam.
The incident occurred at around 9pm on Saturday, February 11.
On Tuesday, Glenn Heights Police Department uploaded the vision of the incident onto social media and it’s since gone viral.
“I would like to commend Officer Chris Womack,” wrote the department. “Due to his courage and quick thinking, he was able to prevent a burning vehicle from causing major damage to the Jack in the Box and protecting the employees.”
According to police, no injuries were reported in the incident.
