Heatwave ban: Service station cracks down on 'questionable moist notes, coins’

A service station on the NSW mid north coast has issued a ban on accepting any money stored down shirts, in underwear or in socks on hot days.

The Kempsey outlet put up a sign notifying customers of the new rules as the NSW heatwave continues.

“Due to hot and humid weather, we are no longer accepting ‘boob, jock or sock’ money,” the sign read.

“Questionable moist notes and coins will also be declined.”

The sign was shared on a Sydney social media page with most people supportive of the decision.

The move comes after stores in Geraldton and Carnarvon in WA sparked public debate when they banned cash carried in their underwear.

Staff in the separate towns had complained about hygiene when accepting the cash stored inside clothing.
