Security guard filmed 'choking' man at FOMO festival stood down by employer
WARNING - DISTRESSING FOOTAGE: A security guard filmed allegedly choking a man at a Brisbane music festival, has been stood down by his employer.
A Facebook user uploaded video of the confrontation, claiming to be filmed at the FOMO music festival on Saturday December 7.
The user added the caption "this is not okay".
A spokeswoman from FOMO Festival said the external security company Asset Protection Services had confirmed that the guard involved in the incident had been stood down pending an internal investigation.
“FOMO Festival promoters number one priority is to keep patrons safe and protected at all times and reiterate that we do not condone excessive force or violence at any of our events,” a statement from the festival read.
“We take this matter very seriously and will continue to work with relevant authorities to ensure they have everything they need for their investigation.”
“We are deeply saddened by this incident and FOMO Festival are also currently seeking legal counsel to take further action.”
The video, uploaded on Sunday, shows two security guards in an apparent scuffle with a man, believed to be a punter at the festival.
At one stage, one of the security guards is seen wrapping his hands around the man's throat.
The man on the ground, who was wearing a white singlet, appeared to be struggling to breathe during the confrontation.
Another security guard also involved in the confrontation was seen trying to slap his colleague's hands off the man.
Another festival punter appears to try to intervene in the situation. The guard responds by jumping up and yelling "f**k off" towards the crowd.
The events that took place before and after the incident on camera are unclear at this stage.
It's also unclear what prompted the altercation.
FOMO was a sold-out event held at Brisbane's Riverstage.
7 News Online contacted Queensland Police who confirmed they had not yet received a complaint regarding the incident.
Headlining artists included Empire Of The Sun, Peking Duk and Flosstradamus.
