Fugitive finds time to stop for fuel during Melbourne high-speed chase

Two female passengers have been arrested after a high-speed police chase north of Melbourne, during which the driver found time to stop twice for fuel.

Officers tried to stop the luxury BMW sedan on the Calder Highway around 3.30pm local time, but the 15-year-old at the wheel failed to stop.

After more than an hour, the chase was called off when police learned the age of the driver.

Footage of the chase shows the teen stop at a Shell service station and put fuel in the car before driving away without paying.

He also narrowly missed a pedestrian while speeding through Lancefield.

The driver is seen crossing onto the wrong side of the road multiple times in the silver sedan before stopping at another Shell service station, where the bowser failed.

It was during the second stop police realised the teen had three others in the car with him.

Two females fled from the vehicle into a nearby McDonalds and Aldi. Both were arrested at the scene, but the driver continued with his male passenger still inside.

Other motorists say they were almost hit by the driver, who remains on the run.

Police say the teen was first spotted in Whittlesea, before the chase went through Kilmore, Tooborac, Heathcote and Bendigo.

It's alleged the 15-year-old reached speeds of up to 120km/h during the chase.

The canine squad was later called to Bendigo where a man was arrested. He was later released after having no link to the chase.
