‘This is honestly scary’: Video of baby born inside amniotic sac divides amazed viewers

A video capturing the moment a baby is born inside the amniotic sac during a caesarean section has divided online viewers.

The rare moment, shared by Facebook page Birth Without Fear, shows doctors delivering the baby from the uterus while it is still inside an intact amniotic sac, also known as a caul.

The baby appears to be crying as he arrives and doctors then carefully position the baby on its mother's stomach

One of the doctors uses their fingers to break the amniotic sac open and release all of the fluid.'

Since the video was shared on Wednesday, it has been viewed more than 1.1 million times and commented on by more than 3,600 people.

Viewers of the video have reacted very differently to what they saw.

“Omg he's crying in there! I know he's safe and getting adequate oxygen but it makes you think, do they do this often?” one Facebook commentator asked.

“Real question, not being bratty: Why is this something that is being done on purpose over and over again? I think that it is positively amazing to see a natural, in caul birth. It's like getting a window into a secret space. But the popularity and frequency of these videos kind of worries/freaks me out,” said another comment.

One woman commented: “This is honestly scary. The placenta is next to the sac so it's obviously no longer attached to the uterine wall, which means it's no longer working.”

However, many other comments on the Facebook post mentioned how amazing it was to watch, with one saying: “Thank you Mom and Newbie for sharing with me the transit from womb to world... feeling honored to witness this transition.”

Another said: “Amazing what the human body does! Hard to believe we grow these beautiful babes inside us.”
